Early stages of the spawn are kicking in on Lake Amistad.  A lot of bucks are cruising the flats and backs of creeks and coves, scraping up new beds.  Big females are gathered in 15 to 25 feet of water in drains leading into the spawning areas.  The coming full moon should push these girls onto beds and produce some fantastic site fishing.

Watermelon and green pumpkin plastics are attracting a lot of bites shallow to 15 feet of water.  With larger fish being taken on slowly worked jigs, spinners and softplastics in deeper water.  The back of California Creek, Evans Creek, Cow Creek and the major creeks up the Devil's River and the Rio Grande all provide good action on the US sides with the creeks and coves on the Mexican side starting to heat up.  They should be in full swing in the next week or two.
